METHODS: 22.9% of the children was malnourished due to height for age criteria and 12.5% due to weight for age values. Weight for age malnutrition was higher in health clinics representing low socio-economical status than the others (p<0.01). Weight for age malnutrition was higher in families representing low socio-economical levels (24.6%) than in moderate (12.1%) and high socio-economical levels (8.8%); low birth weight (24.4%) than normal (12.1%) and high birth weight (8.3%); month difference with the prior child less than 24 months (22.2%) to more than 24 months (11.5%); children never ingested breast milk (31.3%) than the ones ingested (12.0%) (p<0.01).
RESULTS: Height for age malnutrition was found higher in health clinics located in socio economically poor area (33.8%) than the others; in third child and over third (30.7%) than the others (19.1%) (p<0.01).
CONCLUSION: As conclusion; height for age and weight for age malnutrition prevalance in 0-36 months old children was higher than the results of Turkey Population and Health Survey in 2003; economical status, birth weight, intervals and order of birth were thought to be related factors to the development of malnutrition.
